Leadscon 2013 is drawing to a close. It’s time for you to go out go out into the world. It’s closing time. Time to turn the light up over every boy and every girl. It’s closing time. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay… err.. on the Leadscon convention floor anymore. After today, it’s done.

If you’re one of those folks dreading the end of Leadscon and returning to the slog of non-convention life, read on to see our second annual list of the five best bets for crashable conventions in Las Vegas, through the end of the week.

1. International Pizza Expo

Dates: 3/19 – 3/21

Location: Las Vegas Convention Center

Website: http://www.pizzaexpo.com/

Why should you crash it?

Over 6,900 pizzeria owners and operators are converging on Las Vegas this week for the 29th Annual Pizza Expo, a collection of educational sessions, cooking and baking demonstrations and something called “The World Pizza Games” which features:

  • Freestyle Acrobatic Dough Tossing
  • Fastest Dough
  • Largest Dough Stretch
  • Fastest Pizza Box Folding
  • Pizza Triathlon

Still not convinced that this could be the most awesome event ever? There’s also an International Pizza Challenge where chefs are scored on crust, sauce, overall taste, creativity and visual presentation. No idea if the official title of the winner is The International Pizza Prince(ss), but, if it isn’t, it should be. And they have a craft beer pavilion. So, you know, they’ve got that going for them.

2. Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show

106

Dates: 3/19 – 3/21

Location: Las Vegas Convention Center

Website: http://www.ncbshow.com/

Why should you crash it?

If the whole “Nightclub and Bar” part didn’t catch your eye, how about this: The Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show draws over 34,000 industry professional for a three-day spread of over 100 events. At noon today, Cee-Lo Green and Jon Taffer are going to cut the ribbon in the exhibition hall, followed by nightly parties, numerous happy hours and a set of Platinum Parties that have attracted celebrities like 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo. Basically, this is a convention for the people who plan awesome parties. What’s stopping you?

3. Amusement Expo 2013

Dates: 3/20 – 3/22

Location: Las Vegas Convention Center

Website: http://www.amusementexpo.org/

Why should you crash it?

The Amusement Expo is what coin-operated enthusiasts dream of. Wander through a convention floor where people display the latest in gaming machinery, from stand-up arcade machines to video poker, skeelball, whack-a-mole (we’re looking at you, LeadiD) and more.

4. Western States Sheriffs’ Association

Dates: 3/18 – 3/21

Location: Las Vegas Convention Center

Website: http://www.westernsheriffs.org/Conference.html

Why should you crash it?

Okay, look, we know crashing a law enforcement conference seems like a bad idea, but hear us out: First, sheriffs are awesome. When bad guys ride into town and frighten the townsfolk, who’s the guy that comes to the rescue? The sheriff. That’s right. Still not convinced? Wyatt Earp was a sheriff. Bat Masterson was a sheriff. Pat Garrett (that’s the dude who shot Billy the Kid), he was a sheriff. Heck, the United States’ most awesome president, Teddy Roosevelt, he was a sheriff, too!

Beyond the fact that sheriffs are just generally awesome, consider some of the important learnings available from this conference. Every wondered how to handle high profile prisoners? What about proactive measure running a constitutional jail? How about using crime and jail mapping to great real-time operational awareness?”

5. American Pathology Foundation Spring Conference

APF

Dates: 3/21 – 3/23

Location: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Website: https://www.apfconnect.org/conferences/conferences.php?conference_id=679

Why should you crash it?

First, I’d just like to point out that, technically, this conference is full, which sounds like a bad joke.

“Why was it so hard to get tickets to the American Pathology Foundation conference?”

“Because people were just dying to get in!”

Okay, bad jokes aside, though, this conference sounds awesome. Thursday, they’re going to kick the whole thing off with a hosted wine tasting and silent auction (though, hopefully, they’re not offering pathology-related offerings). On Friday, they have a “It’s a Jungle” reception where they reveal the winners of the pathology Golf Tournament. And, by the way, did we mention pathologists? Pathologists know how to party. No joke.
